Thesis First
Is this you?
When everything feels urgent – emails, research projects, funding application – do you find it hard to decide what deserves your focus first? And is your thesis falling off the cliff most of the time?
What would it look like to protect just one uninterrupted block of time for your thesis every day – even if it means saying ‘not right now’ to emails and colleagues?
Are you longing for a clear structure for your whole life, that prioritises your thesis but also takes your other projects into account and allows for some free time to feel good in your body?
Within the 2 week “Thesis First” course for doctoral candidates, you will create a mindset shift to finally prioritize your thesis and create a structure that works for your professional and personal life to feel clear about what happens when — both throughout the course and beyond its completion.
How we will get there:
1
Gain clarity about all the areas of your thesis, other work and life that are important to you and reflect on what areas are being prioritised at the moment. What needs to be moved to create space for your thesis?
2
Clarify your priorities and reconnect with your motivation. Reflect on your long-term vision, and define the goals that will guide your daily actions.
3
Set boundaries and communicate them well with your team members, family and friends. Make your thesis your absolute priority for 2 weeks. Design a schedule that is ambitious but realistic. Clear the decks and get to work.
4
Come back to all areas in your life and design the best and most balances structure for yourself, so you can thrive and make progress, saving time and energy by knowing what happens when in your week.
Goal:
By the end of the course, you will have the tools to start working punctually and reconnect deeply with your inner drive and motivation. You’ll feel confident and positive about your thesis-writing process, having made significant progress by committing to the R.I.S.E. method and dedicating at least 50 focused minutes each day to your work on your thesis.
Your Time Commitment
We will meet 4 times within 2 weeks, you will check in with your buddy every day and we will have 2 accountability calls, one in October and one in November.
The dates are:
Tuesday Sep 16th
Friday Sep 19th
Tuesday Sep 23rd
Friday Sep 26th
Accountability calls: Oct 21st, Nov 14th
Times: 11:30-12:45 GMT (UK Time), 12:30-13:45 CMT (Central European Time)
